Project Vlog Evaluation question no.3
3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
when we started this project we had very basic Photoshop and tech skills.
one of our earliest tasks was a preliminary task group assignment wherein teams were asked to recreate a poster from a film.my Team consisted of I,Irtaza Quershi and Meher Khalid and the movie poster we were given the task of recreating was The Ides Of March(2011)starring Ryan gosling and George clooney as shown below in comparison is first the original poster then the recreation
(original poster)
(recreated poster in Photoshop )
the skills learned doing this task was very useful to us later on when creating the magazine
this image was when we learned to use Pen Tool in Illustrator
to remove certain parts of an image this was also useful later on
when we were creating our cover,double-page spread and content page
Project Vlog Evaluation Questions No 2
Q.2. How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?
A.my magazine Project Vlog engages its audience with its colorful photography and up to date news/information with fresh unique insights from a wide array of experts and it threads the middle ground between other magazines of it kind (Oh My Vlog! Being very light hearted and having a jokey light-hearted tone whilst TenEighty Magazine takes a more serious in-depth thought provoking look at things while also being light) thus appealing to both serious readers and hip young millennials .
As a real media text it would be published by Ferozsons Publications and distributed across various bookshops, retailers and newsagents across the city at an affordable price of around 100-150 Rs(rupees) with a probable launch trailer released on YouTube also with self-promotion across various social media networks such as Facebook ,Twitter ,Instagram and Tumblr, etc.
Project Vlog Evaluation Questions No.1
Q.1 how does your media/product use/challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?
A. my magazine Project Vlog follows the codes and convention of other magazines in this genre (internet) such as Oh My Vlog! And TenEighty Magazine it has a vibrant cover, double page spread (about a YouTuber) and a simplistic lined content page
It is targeted to the demographic/social groups of Internet consumers and/or Millennial aged between 18-40 and whilst fun yet informative it also aims to raise awareness about moral, ethical and technical issues that arise from the advances of technology such as piracy, hacking, cyber-bullying ,viruses
For the backdrop of the cover I used a various assortment of obsolete technologies all placed in a pattern on my Dining table. I also used a image of me to advertise the double page spread inside the magazine that you can see very clearly is an article about a internet sensation (me)
this challenges conventions as typically a model woould be displayed on the cover and i did not do this out of stylistic choice and practicallity
